I'm still refusing to believe that episode 5 exists. I mean, did they google WORST FAN FICTION EVER and make it into an episode? And I don't appreciate how Mako was dismissive of Bolin's feelings FU YOU HURT HIM AND HE STILL MANNED UP AND PLAYED THE MATCH AND FORGAVE YOU SO YOU STFD ARGHHH
The only reason I'd even remotely consider watching it again is because it made me love ^this guy more.
I'm getting really ticked off that they keep crappy-fying his character/story arc. And now there are rumors that he might get killed?? Oh my god, just NO. I don't know what I'd do if we ever lost him and all we get is a surplus of Makorra *gag*. The world NEEDS more Bolins OKAY.
also is it just me who’s finding Mako and the focus on him super annoying?
Babby, you can end up with Amon for all I care, I just want you to be so goddamned happy that they make a Disney movie after you.
ps: just clarifying, I'm not anti any ship, nor am I pro any pairing. I just wish they started tackling the shipping stuff in the second season so we could have gotten to know the characters as individuals. *shakes head in disappointment*
To be honest, I thought they were going to stick with (whats it called Borra?) when mako rejected Korra. And ya know what?
I think they would have made the most hilarious (and most natural/down to earth) couple!
And, kind of getting a little annoyed at Mako. Sorry, but just hearing his name (Mako so similar to macho, we see what you did there) I knew he was supposed to be one of those dreamboat guys.... What I wasn't expecting was for Edward and Bella to appear in my favorite anime (more like anime-styled cartoon....)! I mean Mako and Asami... just who do they look like?
Grey-scale their pictures, add a little goth makeup (because everyone knows goth and heavy mascara and black black black is ever so cool >8C ) and walla:
IT WAS DANG TWILIGHT OUT THERE!
And the creators said the episodes were going to be more on point. You have yet to prove that to your fans.
I agree. In LoK, they jumped WAY to fast into romance, and on top of that, did a terrible job doing it. Plus, there was utterly no character development beforehand, so now we have all of these shallow characters with a little to nothing background scenario, so they can act as out of character as they want, and it would be considered canon because so far, there's NOTHING as proof that they might act otherwise, because they havn't given us a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g... I know I'm exaggerating and venting my frustrations on a certain episode *cough* Episode 5 *cough*, but...
And as for Mako... I actually really do like him, or, at least, the whole image I thought of him before they, yeah, ruined his character with all of that Makorra junk. In all honestly, the reason I still even like Mako is because of how tight he and Bolin are... I LOVE that 'brotherhood-ness', especially since the reason (or reason my fandom-ish mind would like to believe) they cling to eachother is because of their background...
Oh, this is lovely and so heartbreaking. I felt so bad for Bolin that episode, he was like a little kid with a crush and it was heartbreaking to watch, knowing he was not going to get anywhere (I've only recently gotten into it, and knew of the inevitable Makorra, although I think I would have spotted it regardless)
Personally, I don't hate either Mako or Korra. Having said that, I don't reckon I'd like Mako half as much if he wasn't Bolin's big bro and they didn't have the back-story they have XD Two of my favourite tv tropes XD But there you are) I wish they were a little more developed, as you and many others have said, but I'm relatively fond of them.
I just wish the creators let off the shipping for a bit. I loved all of them much better as just a team, working together and be there for each other and all that. Mako turned into a sap and Korra started getting desperate and I've got a thing against cheating (from both sides, seriously Pema, you do not tell a teenager that if you really like a guy, ignore his current relationship and just go for it yourself?! It wasn't good of you to do it, Linn is still upset about that, now you're telling other girls to do it - AHHHHH!)
Alright, back on topic. This is a really great pic and as you can tell from all the comments, emotion-provoking. I really like it and thank you very much for sharing it
NO it's not just you. I hate Mako exactly for that reason. Not to mention the rest of them! The Korra series was pretty much ruined for me because they dismissed Bolin so easily and he let them! I wish they'd shown more of his serious side. Poor thing. I think he was possibly the only character (maybe other than Amon and his brother) that I liked in A:TLoK.
I haven't gone through everyone's comments, but Bolin will not be dying (or not that I know of), but I do know that he will end up in a "bizzare romance plot" according to the creators (which might mean Korra's creepy twin cousins...). Honestly, that worries more for Bo than I already am D:! WHY CAN'T HE JUST BE HAPPY?!?
This is a problem that falls back to the original series. Great character development, shit relationship development. Basically the writing staff doesn't even try, when it comes to relationships revolving around the main character. See Aang, ad Katara, another relationship I loath with the fiery passion of a million Chevy Novas. That relationship was so obvious, It made Blaze Orange look like Camouflage. They basically kept hitting you over the head with that relationship through the entire original series, and you had no choice but to accept it as an inevitability. And relationships like that piss me off, because the characters didn't earn it. They didn't develop feelings for each other, they didn't act on those feelings naturally, and they didn't grow, or try to build toward a rewarding relationship. No, it's you're the main character, and we're going to give you a girlfriend/boyfriend because of that fact. Even if the two characters involved share nothing in common with one another. It's shit like episode 5 of TLOK, that almost made me stop watching all together. Because I knew the writers, didn't learn their lesson from the first series. And if they do kill off Bolin, that's a deal breaker right there. Also I have two younger brothers, and if they caught me in a situation like Bolin, caught Mako, they would just kick my teeth down my throat, and I'd deserve it. You don't betray your brothers trust like that Mako, way to keep it in your pants. BOLIN FOR LIFE! He defiantly deserves better.
My problem with Kataang has always been: 1) they kept pushing the "I love you Aang, as a friend/brother" card for like 2 seasons and it took one kiss for Katara to change her mind? 2) AANG IS TWELVE. If hitting on a kindergartner is wrong, what more making out with him eweweweweeeeewwwww 3) I have no doubt that they would have had a good marriage, but, as you said, it would have been better if they grew into a relationship instead of having it thrown like a brick in our faces
The writing staff in ATLA is different from LOK though. ATLA was Bryke plus a band of legit writers (that they changed now and again), but LOK is all Bryke. And as great artists as they are and as much as I love them both, they should really throw in the towel for writing.
Those are legit reasons, but my dad is 2 years older than my mom, so the age gap really didn't bother me that much. I liked Toph as a love interest for Aang as an alternative to Katara. Now that would have been a relationship, Aang would have had to work at.
Yeah Bryke needs to step out of the writing portion of the show. If this is the best they can do, they need to realize their short comings.
